Rollin Kocsis was raised in South Bend, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University with honors and a degree in art education. After graduation from college, he moved to Memphis and began to teach visual arts for the Memphis City Schools. For over 37 years, he taught junior high and high school general and advanced art, photography, printmaking, pottery, fibers, and yearbook production.

 

Rollin attended Memphis State Univeristy (now the University of Memphis) and earned two advanced degrees: a Master of Arts in Teaching Art Education (1976) and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting (1991).

 

Rollin retired from teaching in 2009. He was the director of Gallery Fifty Six in Memphis, Tn. from 2010 until 2015. He continues to create art - paintings on canvas and silk. Rollin is represented by Diane's Art Gift Home, Palladio Antiques and Art, and Market Central in Memphis, Tennessee, and by the Sara Howell Gallery in Jonesboro, AR.
